Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is canine rehabilitation?

Canine rehabilitation is similar to physical therapy for people. It uses targeted exercises, hydrotherapy, and specialized modalities to help dogs recover from injury or surgery, manage chronic conditions, and improve strength, mobility, and comfort.

  • Do I need a veterinary referral?

Yes, a referral from your veterinarian is required for rehabilitation services (such as post-surgical or injury recovery). See our forms page for the veterinary referral form.

Healthy dogs attending conditioning and fitness services do not require a referral.

  • What kinds of dogs benefit from rehab?

Rehabilitation can help dogs recovering from surgery, living with arthritis or other chronic conditions, overweight dogs needing safe exercise, senior pets wanting better mobility, and more.

  • What services do you offer?

We provide underwater treadmill therapy, therapeutic exercises, PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field therapy), weight management programs, and at-home exercise plans.

  • How long are appointments?

Initial evaluations usually take 60 minutes. Follow-up therapy sessions are about 30 minutes, depending on your dog’s treatment plan.

  • Will my pet insurance cover this?

Yes, many pet insurance companies cover veterinary rehabilitation. This is usually an added-on service to your base policy. We recommend checking with your provider for details about your policy.

  • Do you accept cats?

Yes! While most of our patients are dogs, we do provide rehabilitation and conditioning for cats as well. Cats can benefit from therapies like underwater treadmill (if they will tolerate it), PEMF, and tailored exercise plans to help with mobility, arthritis, recovery from surgery, or weight management.

  • Can I bring my reactive dog to Stellar Power Hour?

We want every dog (and person) to feel safe and comfortable. Because Stellar Power Hour is a group class, it’s not the best fit for dogs who are reactive toward other dogs or people. We’d be happy to recommend individual conditioning sessions tailored just for them.

  • What should I bring to Stellar Power Hour?

Bring your dog on a leash and collar or harness, along with training treats, and water for yourself.

We provide fitness equipment and dog water.
